What’s included
-
Maccha Okuyutaka Blend by Takaki (40g) — a blend of Okuyutaka / Yabukita / Okumidori / Saemidori, grown kabuse-style for depth, brightness, and an approachable finish. Tasting notes: dandelion, toasted rice, sweet melon, violet. Harvested May 2025 in Hoshinomura, Fukuoka (Japan) and fresh-milled in Victoria, BC.
-
Origami Katate Matcha Bowl (Small, 230 mL) — porcelain, made in Japan, designed to be held in one hand with a subtle lip indentation for comfortable sipping; microwave + dishwasher safe, heat resistant to 120°C.
-
Zheng Chasen (bamboo whisk) — made in China by Mr. Yang — an excellent starter whisk for enthusiasts; the “important parts” are cut in Changsha, Hunan.
-
Chasennaoshi (whisk stand) — helps maintain the whisk’s shape between uses and while drying.
-
Stainless Tea Strainer (sieve) — the shop’s go-to sieve for quick maccha/tea prep; durable stainless steel, with dimensions approx. W3 × L6.9 in (7.5 × 17.5 cm) and handle length ~3.3 in (8.5 cm).
Why this kit works
Sifting breaks up clumps, whisking builds a fine foam and smooth texture, and a stand helps your whisk dry and keep its shape—so each bowl comes out more consistent.
(Tip: sift your maccha first, then whisk briskly until glossy and foamy. Rinse the whisk with water only, shake dry, and store on the stand.)
